The Nomination Process

The purpose of the Georgia Barbecue Hall of Fame is to recognize and honor a distinguished and select group of innovators, visionaries, leaders, and luminaries who have made significant contributions to the development and advancement of the art, science, business, or sport of barbecue in the State of Georgia.

Any such individual, group, team, organization, business, restaurant, or other entity, past or present, is eligible for consideration for induction into the Georgia Barbecue Hall of Fame. Nominees do not need to be associated with any particular group or organization.

Anyone may submit up to two nominations per year by completing and returning a nomination form or completing and submitting the online Nomination form.  Please submit a separate nomination form for each Nominee with as much information and contact info as possible.  Nominees may nominate themselves.

Nominations received by the September 30 deadline each year will be eligible for consideration for all future classes of the Hall of Fame.

A Nomination Committee, comprised of a group of individuals selected for their diverse knowledge of barbecue, geography, and experiences will review and evaluate ALL nominations, and present a limited list of finalist to a Selection Committee.

The Selection Committee will then select the most worthy finalist for induction into the Hall of Fame at a ceremony to be held in February of each year.

Updated lists of current nominees and current finalists are posted on the Hall of Fame website.  There is no need to nominate anyone already on either list.  Biographies and other information about all inductees will also be posted and maintained at the website.
